SYSTEM DEFENSES OF THE JADE EMPIRE
As well as its powerful Navy, the Jade Empire of Ingen has a wide array of specialised technology utilised in the defense of its territories and planetary systems. Some of these are listed below.
THE SHIPYARDS
All trade entering and leaving Jade systems is handled by gigantic superstructures known as The Shipyards. There are currently four of these colossal dockyard structures. Saito and Famke Shipyards sit over Laptev and Neusattar, Onoshi protects the Sanrin System and Kobe services the Legacy System. |
Shipyards are eighty kilometres wide, nearly twelve kilometres tall and thirty kilometres bow to stern. They are not designed for space travel, although they have sublight thrusters to allow them to maintain their position. Millions of tonnes of goods per day flow through the many hangars, docks and outlying quays of these mammoths, and with a permanent crew of nearly four thousand and space for millions of visitors, merchants, crews and service agents, they are vital components of the Jade economy.
Each Shipyard is equipped with banks of BDP and 2488 Flak Turrets for defense against boarders and small-to-medium attack craft. They also have incredibly durable shielding, and are virtually impregnable to all but the most concerted of attacks.

INGENERIA FELICIA SUPER-MAC MARK III ORBITAL SECURITY PLATFORMS
The Super-MaC Mark III Orbital Security Platforms, commonly known as Orbital Guns, are giant weapons platforms measuring 1100m in length. Built along the frame of a colossal Super-MaC Mark III railgun, an Orbital Gun can fire three rounds per minute at a speed of 0.9% c. They also have two smaller 912-LB railguns and two Centerfire Barrage Laser turrets, as well as a dozen BDP emplacements and four 2488 flak turrets. Orbital Guns have a limited onboard Slipspace Generator to enable tactical acceleration of their rounds, and can be used to promulgate Gravity Well and TILT fields.
They require a crew of eighty to operate and have a hangar bay.

KANSHOCORP DEFENDER DRONES
KanshoCorp Defender Drones are used to establish FTL Interdiction Shells around Imperial Systems. Each drone is approximately twenty metres in length and in concert they are used in concert to build a shell of interdiction roughly 10 million kilometers thick using their onboard Gravity Well Generators. This allows them to halt all traffic far away from the system core, forcing it to either identify itself to gain egress or proceed at sublight speeds through the interdiction field. The modular design of this system means that individual drones can deactivate their fields to allow communications and ships to temporarily pass through at FTL speeds.
They relay energy between themselves, meaning that only a few resupply and maintenance vessels are required to supply and maintain each shell, They also have inbuilt sensor and communications systems, allowing them to slave to Imperial military warship systems. Only important Imperial systems have a full KanshoCorp shell due to the cost and logistical requirements of a full FTLi shell. Lesser colonies typically have short-range generators designed to protect against FTL munitions, or small shells localised around colony planets.
