GEOGRAPHYThe Imperial City is centered around the Old Town, which is usually defined as the area inside the stone perimeter walls built in 211 AT.
To the east of the Old Town flows the Tamanogawa, or 'Jade River', from which the Jade Dynasty took its name. To the south lies the Jade Palace atop the Zatokujira Hill, whilst the historic Shussan Plaza lies in the ancient aristocratic district west of the palace. The Kokubosho war office lies close to the Jade Palace on the site of the former Shogunate cavalry barracks, whilst the Temple of Rapuchefu, Seiiki University and IdaiTech are all located centrally in Old Town. Beyond the walls, the city sprawls for kilometres in each direction, with wider and more carefully managed layouts in the newer, more extreme reaches of the city thanks to modern urban planning |
HISTORY
Founded in the late 31st millennium MT, the city of Seiiki was a major trading hub and the first agrarian civilisation of south-west Laptev by the year 0. On this date the city became the site of the founding of the First Jade Dynasty by Jade Emperor Shussan. Over the course of the next four centuries the Jade Empire grew to control most of Ingen District from its centre at Seiiki, leading the city to become known as the Imperial City.
In 1207 AT Jade Emperor Hirohito died without naming an heir and the Empire collapsed. After years of civil disorder and political confusion, Seiiki became the capital of the Kuribayashi Shogunate, which expanded over the following centuries to control most of the territory of the former Jade Empire. The city was the site of a significant battle in 2426AT when it was invaded by the Federation of Greater Kuntree.
The city was also the site of the Trathiran Revolt and of the subsequent Restoration of the Jade Empire.
