The IJN Fury of Saigo is the oldest capital-class vessel currently serving with the Imperial Jade Navy, and was the first Katana class warship laid down. It serves as a museum ship and sits on display at the Saito Shipyards in the Laptev System.
It is still technically active, having been in service for more than five decades, and has a maintenance and security detail. It is also listed as the assigned vessel for all administrative and support personnel HISTORYIn 2435 AT, at the onset of the Trathiran Revolt, blueprints for the Katana class of warship were delivered to the United Peace Enforcement Organisation in secret by Avery Johnson and Daimyo Toyotomi Katsumoto. Built at the UPEO Laptev Yards in record time, the warship was kept hidden.
By the time of the Storming of the Winter Villa, the Fury of Saigo was ready to be deployed by the Jade loyalists. During the Storming, the Fury of Saigo and several other loyalist ships decloaked and launched a surprise attack on Trathiran assets in the Laptev System. |

Following the Restoration, the Fury of Saigo transported Daimyo Matomoro Kanbei to a meeting with Qart-Hadastim Carthage. Negotiations ultimately failed and led to the Qart-Hadastim War. The ship evacuated the survivors of the diplomatic party and moved to assault the Carthaginian Milquart orbital platforms over Terra, pushing down two stations and opening the way for Admiral Ludendorff to attack and defeat the 'Red Squadron' of Carthage. The Fury of Saigo, serving as Admiral Joel la Caza's flagship, fought in the Horizon Campaign and was part of the fleet that captured the Vulcan homeworld, forcing their surrender, before participating in the Julia System Campaign later that year and launching one of the LOAD weapons that immolated the planet of Clearwater. The ship then fought in the Battle of Walpha to assist Ystovian fleets under attack in the Walpha System, and captured thirty-one kamikaze pilots from the United Pokemon Types following their mass attack on the Axis fleets.
The Fury of Saigo was present for the Battle of Nationalstolz but did not fire a shot, the only combat being between a squadron of Patagonian vessels and a squadron of Imperial Tanto Destroyers.
The ship was then deployed to Taiidan, now Legacy Province, following the collapse of the Czechanadan government, in order to protect the Imperial base there and pacify the system.
Following attempts by the Red Dragon Society to blockade the Laptev System, the Fury of Saigo was part of the task force sent to drive away the blockade and assault the homeworld of the RDS, resulting in the acquisition of a million Imperial tonnes of gold.
Upon the outbreak of the Barlat War the 1st Fleet and the Fury of Saigo were stationed in the Laptev System, where they were mobilised to defend against a Concordiat attack that never materialised. They were then deployed to the Sera System and fought in the Battle of Sera, in which a significant portion of the Concordiat fleet was defeated.
The IJN Fury of Saigo fought at the Battle of Yamsai and was part of a trio of warships that engaged the DKS League's Bane, one of the Frankish flagships.

SHIP TRADITIONS
The name Fury of Saigo is derived from the story of Saigo Minowara, a 5th century warrior of clan Minowara who famously committed a solo charge against twenty thousand warriors of Clan Yamatsu in an attempt to avenge the dishonour done to his father, who had been assassinated by ninja. He died in the attempt, but Lord Yamatsu was so moved by the act that he turned against the ninja and eradicated their strongholds in his territories.
The ship itself is painted red, the fleet colours of the 1st Fleet.
