The 912-LB Railgun is the standard railgun available to the Imperial Jade Navy. It has a barrel length of 40 metres and is capable of delivering twenty rounds a minute. The 912-LB is usually mounted as a turret weapon, but can also be hull-mounted aboard smaller ships.
It can mount a range of ammunition. The standard round is the Wernham-Hogg Hi-Grade 50mm shaped void-titanium solid slug designed for use against armour and hull superstructure. At full speed, the Hi-Grade 50mm actually deforms into a dense cloud of particulate, retaining its kinetic force but increasing its penetrative capacity. The Wernham-Hogg 2488 flechette round, used against solid munitions and light craft, carries a simple onboard computer. The round is then triggered, detonating and spreading thousands of flechettes of superheated metal, saturating a conical area. Although the munition has a short cone of effect when triggered, it can travel several hundred kilometres before being triggered.
