GI-2461 CAVALRY CARBINE
The Galant Industries Mark 2461 Carbine is a personal defence weapon in use with the Jade Marine Corps and Imperial Jade Navy. Designed with a unique crosshatch laser choke that allows it to fire solid slugs or flechettes in two different spread patterns, it is ideal for mid-to-close range combat.
It is compact, with a folding stock and a small 10 round magazine, designed for practical use in the field and to be easily stowed in cockpits. |

DEVELOPMENT
In the wake of the Barlat War many pilots complained that their pistol sidearms had proven insufficient in the field, leading them to be captured and alleging that many KIA pilots may have survived had they had a better sidearm. A Kokubusho report into the issue determined that there was practical merit to the adoption of a larger caliber weapon as the standard sidearm for pilots, vehicle crew and other specialists for whom a full longarm was impractical.
Galant Industries won the tender in 2460 AT and subsequently designed and produced the GI-2461 Cavalry Carbine. DESIGN |
Designed with an intert ammunition type to improve durability, the 2461 utilises a miniature vitredur crystal focused laser array to create a choke grid of cutting beams at the muzzle of the weapon. This can be controlled using a switch at the top of the grip, and can be set to fire solid slugs, set to scattershot to produce a spread of roughly 2.5 cm per metre, or set to duckbill for a spread of roughly 5 cm per metre. The round is made of a bismuth alloy that can be carved into flechettes or used as a solid slug with an effective range of up to 200 metres.
The 2461 utilises a slamfire pump action for an improved rate of fire and has a standard magazine of 10 rounds. It has a venting rail along the top of the barrel to disperse excess heat and gas. A rail over the receiver allows for the use of attachments, primarily short-range scopes, whilst a folding stock in the pistol grip reduces carry space and weight whilst allowing for accurate fire and recoil control. A panel on the side of the gun opens for ease of maintenance.
