JADE MARINESThe Jade Marines are a full-time professional fighting force composed of dedicated volunteers from across the Empire.
There are currently approximately 10,000,000 Jade Marines in service across the Jade Empire, mustering 2,000 regiments. HISTORYThe Marine Corps has its origins in the standing military retinue employed by Emperor Shussan in the first century AT. In contrast to other regional lords of

the era, Shussan maintained a permanent military force at his own expense instead of relying on retainers and mercenaries. His samurai were among the first soldiers to be trained in unit drill and formation combat, which gave them an advantage over the ad-hoc armies of other local warlords. Over the next several centuries, organised warfare became the norm across the territory of Ingen, and even after the fall of the First Jade Dynasty in 1207 AT the concept of professional standing armies dominated warfare in the region.
By the beginning of the 25th Century AT, the Kuribayashi Shogunate had developed a powerful military but was technologically behind the rest of Laptev thanks to the Shogunate ban on foreign trade, with only limited cultural and technological exchange occurring across the mountains that bounded Ingen to the north. When Shogun Shogun Tadamichi Kuribayashi opened the ports for the first time in centuries, trade agreements with the Katasian Ryk and Ystovia forced a rapid overhaul of Ingenious military doctrine. Unable to match the size or operational efficiency of their counterparts, the Soto Mo-Bushi marines relied on special operations and surgical strikes to achieve their objectives. After the Abomination Wars, the Axis developed FTL travel and expanded to the stars. The Sovereign Imperial Military agreed a lend-lease program and provided the Marine corps with stockpiles of directed energy weaponry, vehicles and body armour.
Over the following decades, domestic equipment production was ramped up and the Marines were reformed as the Jade Marine Corps following the Trathiran Revolt.
