Alejandra still has a minority Petrine religious population. HISTORY |
Alejandra was once the seat of the mighty Imperium Romanum, which at the peak of its power in 1200 MT covered nearly a quarter of Laptev. By the 1600's, however, the people of present-day Alejandra District had overthrown the last Romanum Emperor and formed the Republic of San Alejandro, an enlightened and wealthy oligarchy famous for fostering the renaissance of art and culture, and for inventing modern banking amongst other things. Alejandran missionaries from the Petrine Church travelled the coasts of the region and converted the felidaens to the Petrine faith in the 17th and 18th centuries.
San Alejandro was a trading and industrial powerhouse for much of the 19th-24th Centuries, allying with the Laptev Axis to crush Revolutionary Mediterranean and joining the Laptev Axis during the Krakohzian Crisis of 2410 AT.
San Alejandro was a core member of the Laptev Axis during the Second Era, but shortly after the Barlat War San Alejandro fractured as opposing political camps failed to agree on whether San Alejandro should remain a member of the Laptev Axis. This quickly devolved into a low-scale civil war which led to Axis intervention. The Jade Empire launched an interventionist mission, storming the beaches of Yonan and Minan and prompting the dissident San Alejandrans to evacuate, taking control of the wider San Alejandran empire. The remaining government was left in control of a damaged economy and infrastructure with a significantly reduced population and, soon after the resolution of the war, the temporary Jade occupation became a permanent annexation of the territory.
The tragic events of the San Alejandran Civil War are still commemorated across the Jade Empire on November 5th each year, as the Namida no yoru (lit: 'Night of Tears') and Alejandra District as La Morte Corragiosa (lit: 'The Courageous Death').
