INGEN DISTRICT
The original heartland of the Jade Empire of Ingen, Ingen district has a history dating back more than twelve millennia, and is home to almost four billion people as well as the capital of the Empire, Imperial City. This large mainland province is primarily a Humid Subtropical Climate and is wealthy in agriculture and resources. It is noted for being home to an extant population of dinosauria on the island of Ko to the south-west. It is the fief of Fujin-Daimyo Yoshi Katsumoto.
CULTUREThe people of Ingen District are primarily Yokari, although in metropolitan areas the demographics are somewhat more diverse, with alien species found particulary in the Imperial City. A significant number of the dwindling Jade Imperial population of Felidaens can be found in Seiiki City, the second largest cluster in the Empire after the autonomous colony of Texcoco. Increasing numbers of RAI can also be found in the districts. Jade Imperial culture originated in Ingen District, and it is home to important historical and religious sites and traditions.
ECONOMY |
The economy of Ingen district is dominated by three parallel sectors. The first and oldest is agriculture, with fresh food a staple of the Jade Empire. Sprawling farms and ranches provide quality foodstuffs, transported by specialist freighters to all corners of the Jade Empire. The second is research and development, with major technological companies such as Pure Waters LLC and IdaiTech Incorporated having their headquarters in the district. The third is tourism, with visitors from across the Jade Empire, the Laptev Axis and beyond coming to enjoy the historic and pristine sights, sounds and dishes of the ancient Jade Empire.
Ko is known for being a wildlife preserve, with the only extant species of the dinosauria on Laptev inhabiting the island. Inoshishimori is a prominent scientific research centre and host to the headquarters of the Imperial Ministry of Natural Harmony, whilst Kajiya is home to some of the oldest armouries and weapons manufacturers in the Jade Empire.

HISTORY
Some of the earliest evidence of permanent human habitation on Laptev originates from Ingen Province, with the village of Ueno in the mountains east of present-day Imperial City being discovered by archaeologists in 1741 AT and recently carbon-dated to roughly 10,500 MT.
Imperial City, known as Seiiki, was a major power in the region by 3000 MT and in the year 0, Jade Emperor Shussan founded the first Jade Empire. The Jade Empire expanded to cover present-day Ingen District but declined in the 11th and 12th Centuries until, in 1207 AT, the First Jade Dynasty ended and the Empire collapsed.
The Kuribayashi Shogunate rose to control much of eastern Ingen throughout the late medieval and early industrial period, defeating its regional neighbours decisively in the Battle of Hasunomichi. In the early 25th century it became a regional power thanks to its membership in the Laptev Axis, and eventually rose to become a dominant interstellar power. The region was invaded in the Kuntrian War but the incursion ultimately failed and was repelled.
