ANTONIO BOTAS
BIOGRAPHYBorn sometime in the 2370s in Katasia, Botas was originally a mercenary captain for the East Ingen Company. He made his name in the Ravenwood conflict after persuading the mercenary Captain Blackthorne to defect along with his men and materiel.
In the Second Era, Botas was captain of the EIS Trail We Blaze. Botas was an active leader of the combined efforts during the Vong Wars, fighting in the naval action over Laos II. He also personally assisted Knight Master Eva of the Katasian Order and JIAN Director Avery Johnson to hunt down and |
eliminate a squadron of Vong Flesh Masquers that had infiltrated the Mercy Falls Hospital aboard the OSL Charon. He later participated in otable for its participation in the action against Thenion's Immaculate Kin during the Chapter incident.
During the Trathiran Revolt, he actively worked to assist Takara Kuribayashi, signing his ship over the the Ingenious cause. As a captain in the EIC he had long had suspicions about the dark course the EIC had set itself upon and wished no part of them, and so he, his first mate and a small group of loyalists resisted the rest of the crew and seized control of the ship, piloting it to join Admiral Cornewaille and his survivors as they escaped with the future Jade Empress.
After the Restoration he was confirmed as a post captain in the Imperial Jade Navy. He commanded ships in various campaigns including the Qart-Hadastim War, the Red Dragon Campaign, the Horizon Wars and more. By the time of the Barlat War he had risen to the rank of Admiral and was granted command of the largest Axis fleet ever assembled after drawing up plans to lure the Concordiat fleets into a trap at Sera. He was instrumental in the Axis victory at the Battle over Sera, which effectively ended the war.
He oversaw the IJN contribution to the Keystone Campaign, using Jade warships to cover the Katasian assault in a confusing and protracted campaign that saw ships, crew and supply lines stretched to the limit. After the Jade Empire evacuated to NS-1, he spent time developing the Botas Reforms which overhauled the doctrines and equipment of the Imperial Jade Navy. Botas led the reinforcements that defeated the Frankish assault on Legacy.
As Jade Admiral of the Imperial Jade Navy, the highest naval rank possible, Botas has absolute command of the entire naval assets of the entire Imperial Jade Navy, totalling thousands of vessels, and is subordinate only to the monarch and Shogun.
