RAPUCHEFU, THE GREAT DRAGON OF INGEN
Rapuchefu, the Jade Dragon, is the primary deity of the Jade Empire of Ingen and the God of Light and Water. His chief aspect is that of an immense dragon, with scales of pure jade and whose breath creates tai-funs, the destructive sea storms. Some historians maintain that Rapuchefu and Porten, the Adfiran sun god, are simply different aspects or cultural traditions regarding the same metaphysical entity.
In Ingenious tradition, Rapuchefu was one of the Great Divines of the Otherworld, and he created the Laptev System when he did battle with Zetsubo, his brother and a demon of the Corruption. The energies of their battle gave birth to the Sun, whilst a single scale shed by Rapuchefu became the planet Laptev and the single tear he shed after slaying his brother created the seas. To protect Laptev from Corruption, Rapuchefu shared qi, his psychic spirit, with the Emperor Shussan, beginning the First Jade Dynasty.
The First Jade Dynasty was extinguished upon the death of Jade Emperor Yoshihito in 1207 AT, and until 2405 AT was reduced to a mere rump state, the Kuribayashi Shogunate. Although Shogun Tadamichi Kuribayashi rebuilt the Shogunate to its former glory, it was not until his daughter Takara defeated an Avatar of Crom Dubh, one of the lords of Corruption, that she was recognised as divine and the Second Jade Dynasty was founded during the Restoration of 2436 AT. |
