BATTLE OF DINOK
The Battle of Dinok was a conflict between a raiding force of Coronans and a multi-national relief force over the Unaligned planet of Dinok. The battle resulted in the devastation of the planet Dinok and the destruction of the Coronan raiding fleet.
BACKGROUNDLed by the MOBY DIKK, a vast flagship vessel, the Coronan raiding force assaulted the planet of Dinok in the search for more slaves and plunder. Carrying a significant population of enslaved Naqoyqatsi, the Coronan fleet quickly began to overwhelm the small Dinok military. A Naqoyqatsi slave aboard the MOBY DIKK, named Youkioma, sent out a covert distress signal requesting aid from anyone who would listen. Several nations responded to the call and dispatched forces to the Dinok System to confront the Coronan raiders.
The allies committed small but powerful units. The Jade Empire contributed a single Tanto Destroyer, the IJN Young Red Dragon under Captain Sudeshi Tokkan, along with a stick of 5 elite Dragon Banner infantry. The Gauss Dominion committed a single Tempest-class Carrier and one hundred Shadow Rangers. The Imperial Matriarchy of Qora supplied a science vessel, a cruiser, a destroyer and six frigates, and the Coalition of Kepler sent two cruisers, 18 destroyers and seven gunships, as well as a force of marines. Assembling aboard the Young Red Dragon the allies quickly settled on a plan of action and mustered a boarding party. Against them was a fleet of approximately 12,000 Coronan warships led by the colossal MOBY DIKK flagship. This force made short work of the two-dozen Dinok spaceships defending the planet, inflicting roughly 20,000 military casualties and billions of civilian losses on the people of Dinok before the allies could even deploy. BATTLEThe battle began as Qorsikan and Kepler warships engaged the enemy at range, attempting to distract and stall them from departing the system with their slaves and plunder. A Qorsikan FTL inhibition field was generated, preventing the enemy from leaving but drawing heavy fire from the Coronans, including a massed assault of LINEBACKER vessels on the allied position. Meanwhile, the Young Red Dragon activated its stealth drives and infiltated the Coronan fleet, dispatching several allied light vessels to board the MOBY DIKK, which was achieved by a direct assault on a hangar bay, at the cost of one Imperial Hyo-class Corvette.
Once the bay was secured, the allied troops fought their way aboard the tram system whilst allied AIs, Ambient Star and Young Red Dragon, began to infiltrate the MOBY DIKK's network. Following a brutal firefight at a major tramway terminus which resulted in the deaths of several allied personnel, including Imperial Dragon Apep, the allied troops split up. Kepler and Dominion soldiers stormed the enemy bridge, executing the Coronan commander and seizing control of the ship. Simultaneously, Kepler and Jade Imperial forces moved to the AI Core, overwhelming the defenders there, salvaging vital technical data and then sabotaging it with explosives. These two strikes allowed Ambient Star and Young Red Dragon to seize control of the MOBY DIKK from the Coronan AI systems, using a deepfaked version of the Coronan admiral to order the release of all slaves. Once the slaves and boarding parties were safely extracted, the MOBY DIKK's reactor core was intentionally overloaded. In conjunction with the sabotage of Coronan IFF systems, the explosion and ensuing friendly fire virtually eradicated the Coronan raiding fleet. |
AFTERMATH
The Coronan raiding fleet was effectively destroyed as an operating force. The allies survived with light losses to their fleets and no capital ships sunk, although the boarding party suffered approximately 20% losses. The planet of Dinok was left in ruins and the entire civilian population was either killed or enslaved by the Coronans. Surviving prisoners rescued by the allies were resettled elsewhere, and allied salvage crews recovered significant amounts of material and Dawnstone from the wreckage of the Coronan fleet.
