ANCO POP
Anco Pop™ is a toy production company based in Bamboo Bay, Legacy System. It is best known for its range of collectible figurines known as Anco Pops!™, depicting a wide variety of fictional and real individuals from various nations and media.
Anco Pops!™ typically retail at between three and five Jade Yen, but rare and discontinued models can fetch high prices. |
Anco Pop was founded in 2485 AT by a consortium of Jade entrepreneurs after a study on consumerism and spending habits by students at Bamboo Bay University indicated that young Imperials were increasingly spending their disposable income on merchandise related to previously niche and unpopular subject matters such as videogames, science fiction and fantasy franchises that had begun to enter the mainstream. The character design was purposefully developed to promote modularity and to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. Marketed as collectibles and display pieces at an affordable retail point, they rapidly skyrocketed as an easy and affordable gift, collectible piece and even child's toy.
Today there are hundreds of Anco Pops!™ lines, covering a wide variety of subject matters. They can be found across Jade territory and beyond, and only a few short years after founding the company's gross revenue is estimated to be approaching half a billion Jade Yen annually.
After controversy in the Jade Assembly, during which members of House Minowara proposed shutting down Anco Pop! on the basis it was predatory and marketing itself as 'collectible' despite the vast and unregulated number of models it produced, a bill was passed which stipulated that any Anco Pops! could be returned to the manufacturer for a one-Yen rebate in order to be recycled. |
