JOSEF PRESCOTTBIOGRAPHYBorn in 2381 AT to a knight in service to King Harald of Suebia, Prescott was raised as a man-at-arms but was badly injured at 19 during a jousting tournament. Unable to fight, he was instead taken into the king's service as a courtier, eventually rising to become the seneschal of Ashby Castle, the king's primary residence and stronghold.
In 2393 AT, a minor revolt by Baron Dyfnwal of Eskrevetone was put down by royal forces and, as appreciation for Prescott's long service, he was appointed the new Baron Eskrevetone. |
In 2430 AT, amidst the aftermath of the Vong War, Prescott attended the Great Council and voted in favour of joining the Kuribayashi Shogunate. Leaving Eskrevetone in the hands of his eldest surviving son, Orion, he enlisted in the navy and received officer training, being given command of a frigate. Following the Horizon War he was promoted to Commodore, where his abilities as an administrator enabled the 7th fleet to perform admirably whilst on detached duties, with disparate elements often working in conjunction to track down pirates and other criminal enterprises. By the time of the Barlat War he had been promoted to Admiral of the 7th, and led it at the Battle of Agnes. The 7th fleet was blamed for the escape of the Concordiat fleet, although under Prescott's command the 7th inflicted heavy losses on the enemy rearguard, and was relegated to patrol duties until the Battle of Sera, where a surprise maneuver by Prescott saw elements of the 7th turn the flank of an NFPA formation, restoring his reputation.
Due to his long service and circumspect leadership style, Prescott's fleet was selected to reinforce the Ancerious Galaxy expedition, arriving at the Sanrin System in late 2486 AT. His first action was the Battle of Kfar Tzvora where he led a small detachment to assist a multi-national coalition against the forces of the Wasting and the Third Coronan Republic. Although the allies inflicted heavy losses on the enemy, they were unable to prevent the resurrection of Yog Narr, a giant biological superweapon known as an 'Eclipse Lord'. The allies withdrew in good order.
Prescott was then chosen to lead the entire 7th fleet, along with elements of the 102nd and the 55th, in the Sarnath Campaign. Reinforced by Pordish, Union and Gauss fleets, he was able to inflict a serious defeat on the navy of the Great Marchander Guild of Commerce at the Battle over Marchand, exposing the planet of Marchand to a planetary invasion.
During the Second Battle over Marchand the IJN was severely depleted, and immediately afterwards the Admiral was relieved of duty by Crown Prince Mitsuyoshi Kuriyabashi.
